About the Project

Adam Kocska is a photographer whose work captures human intimacy and emotional storytelling. The challenge? Template-based portfolio sites felt sterile, too text-heavy, rigid, or impersonal. None allowed the photography to speak.

We set out to build a custom, CMS-based Webflow site that lets the visuals breathe, speaks with emotional clarity, and scales with Adam’s evolving body of work.

Challenges & Learnings

- Emotional UX: Every spacing and visual choice had to support the mood without stealing attention
- Technical flexibility: Pushed beyond Webflow’s animation limits to craft a seamless and lightweight experience
- Future-proofing
: Ensured the site’s backend logic was intuitive enough for the client to maintain without developer support

My Role & Contribution

- Built the entire structure, layout, and brand experience from the ground up
- Designed subtle interactions and animated elements to enhance emotion without distraction
- Developed the site in Webflow, leveraging CMS logic for scalable content updates
- Facilitated iterative feedback rounds with Adam’s creative circle to refine the tone and feel

Impact

✔️ Homepage animation praised as “unexpectedly moving
✔️ Fully responsive, accessible, and easy-to-maintain
✔️ Client regularly updates portfolio content independently, with zero design breaks

Reflection

This wasn’t just about design. It was about translating someone’s creative identity into a living, digital space. I learned how to balance emotional nuance with technical execution, how to code empathy into motion, and how to create experiences that feel personal and timeless. Even when built on complex systems.
